World Book Night is dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person. On April 23, 2013, 25,000 book givers will each give away 20 copies of a specially-printed, not-for-resale World Book Night U.S. edition of a book they have read and loved, chosen from a list of 30 titles selected by a panel of librarians and booksellers. The volunteer book givers personally hand out their copies to complete strangers, people who may never have owned a book of their own. Libraries and bookstores support this event as organizational participants, forming a nationwide advocacy and distribution network. While the library will not be a location for book givers, it will have a limited number of free titles available on World Book Night.
